i thought of you today when i read this quote from one of our very own San Diego Padres pitchers, David Wells, who went to high school here in San Diego, at Point Loma High. He was suspended by Major League Baseball for something obnoxious he did (i forget what exactly, complaining about the calls he was/wasn't getting from the home plate umpire) and here is part of his quote:

"They are changing the game of baseball,"
Wells said. "We should all put on skirts and throw
underhand. If they're going to do that, call it
softball. A seven-game suspension is absolutely
crazy. I don't get it. I doubt I ever will."

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS!? Wow. Needless to say, this guy spent the off-season hunting in Africa.

That is so depressing and hopeless. Hopeless because this administration is not functioning on a foundation of logic or justice, or even what a regular person would think of as the right thing to do. They are some unholy union of neo-conservative money and power grabbing and messianic fundamentalist christianity. Either one, taken alone, is alarming. The combination, as we have seen, is deadly.
And then I look at your GW countdown character to the left, and I think, 557 more days?? How are we going to survive as a world??
